  • "I have seen and worked in many famous destinations of Italy, but this one is so unique - it touches your soul instantly. Big part is due to the owner of property Cesidio, which I can tell has heart for this place and the community."

  • "The views are stunning and the quality of the room was excellent Disliked · It is hard to find but only because it’s a small village on top of a hill. The owner helped us find our way and was very helpful."

  • One of our best holiday experiences in Italy Liked · The views from Sotte le Stelle and Picinisco are spectacular and haven't been surpassed in our travels through Italy. This is our third stay here. Watching the sun rise and the sunshine spreading across the valley while we're having breakfast ..... just one of the many delights here, along with the wonderful hospitality of the owner Cesido. Disliked · Having to leave! But it's easier as we know we'll be back next year....

  • "The rooms were excellent; spotlessly clean and outfitted with quality unique items. We had three apartments, with fantastic views across the valley to mountains after mountains! The staff were very helpful and efficient. We had two nights there and I wish it was more! We arrived on motorcycles and could park them in the square right outside the entrance to Sotto le Stelle. To top it all, we received a gift from the management when we were leaving!"

Ci torneremo!!!"

  • "Picinisco is a beautiful small town, and Sotto Le Stelle is located just steps away from the small piazza that is is center of daily life in the village. We stopped for two nights while driving from Rome to Naples, and it was a good location for visiting Monte Cassino, the several national parks in the area and the seashore. It also worked for us as a good jumping-off spot for Royal Palace of Caserta on the day we left, and could be the same for Herculaneum or Pompell. The property has been lovingly restored, and the owners spare nothing in making guests feel at home. The rooms facing over the valley and mountains offer spectacular views, and having breakfast while gazing over the scenery is a great way to start the day"

  • "From the very beginning Cesidio (owner) was very attentive to all my questions and responded very quickly, and this was the case the whole way through our 4 day stay. He and his team are willing to give you advise on where to go, and help you enjoy your stay anyway they can. Sotto Le Stelle is a hidden gem, it’s SO good I don’t want to share it with others! The apartment we stayed in was immaculate. Cleaned daily, breakfast with fresh coffee and delicious pastry brought to our room each morning, at the time we requested too. Words cannot describe how beautiful a setting Picinisco is, also pictures don’t do Sotto le Stelle justice either. I would highly recommend both to anyone. Cesidio and his family have a beautiful history with Picinisco, and have done a fabulous job with Sotto Le Stelle. We hope to return one day to enjoy all it has to offer"

We had a lovely stay in one of the apartments, we had everything that we could wish for and the view was amazing. Luxurious and clean apartments, good to share if you are a big family or group of friends. We had a lovely time! Would gladly recommended to go and stay in this place Thank you!!! Kind regards from the Erlandsson family."

  • "Picinisco is a charming town that seems to have been forgotten by time and Sotto Le Stelle is the place to stay. The rooms are well appointed with kitchenette, excellent heating and magnificent views. The staff will take great care of you; providing helpful guidance and tasty breakfasts."

  • "Our two days at Sotto Le Stelle were just fantastic! The suites are beautifully appointed with everything you could need and the views are breathtaking over the mountains. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff effortlessly catered for our needs - a guided hike up the mountain, a visit to a farm to see traditional cheese making, bookings at restaurants and private car to take us to our next destination. It was a privilege to spend time in this ancient village with its rich history and beautiful people. I highly recommend it as part of any trip to southern Italy"

  • "Unique accommodation with breathaking view of the valley My group took the entire hotel. Each little suite have its own unique characteristic. The upper suites will be suitable for older guest as it has less stairs, the bottom suites are more appropriate from young couple as the location is a bit more private but it does have some steps. All suites have kitchenette, fully equip. A couple of steps away, you can find a small store which sells groceries so you can get any supplies to easily cook your own meals if you want"

  • "A trip back to Old Italy Delightful hotel with beautifully appointed suite. Comfortable beds, wonderful showers, fantastic view from room. If you want to see Italy as if visiting it 50 years ago, this is the place. A charming town where life revolves around the town square. A wonderful little restaurant and two friendly bars to mingle with the locals after hours. The hotel is perfect and the Owners and Staff cannot do enough to make your stay excellent. You will not find a more gracious host than Cesidio .We will return again and again"

  • "What a great place! Our apartment was spacious, well appointed, very comfortable and just lovely. Danielle will meet your every need and I highly recommend Sotto Le Stella. You should not be concerned that they do not have their own bar and restaurant. The local bar and restaurant are literally steps outside your door and it was quite nice to sit outside each late afternoon, enjoying a spritz overlooking the beautiful valley and contributing to the local economy of the village. Enjoy it"

  • "This is a true no-regrets 5 star From arrival and meeting the host Daniele, to the ultra luxury bed, the only bad thing is having to leave this special place. Views from the suite are priceless, the quality and design of everything is true to the local area but modern and very luxury, I have no idea what it cost to remodel this historic building but it had to have been a mint (or even 2). Whatever you need is here, and Daniele and the "Diffuso" of the town of Picinisco are happy and ready to assist - food is exquisite, tours and transportation, etc. Even if you are maybe touring Cassino or one of those areas this is so worth it to make a night or two of this, it is a time capsule of the line between central and southern Italy still as it was a hundred years ago"

  • "Serendipity ! Our last 2 nights were well spent in Picinisco after 5 night sojourn at Sorrento , Positano and Capri where we did the touristy thing . The amazing fresh alpine air and the promise of a visit to a local traditional herbalist was enough to bring us back at the invitation of Cesidio Di Ciacca, the owner of Sotto Le Stelle - an amazing renovated monastery at the top of a mountain! What a fortunate serendipity it was to meet Cesidio. A descendent of the area , though raised in Scotland, Cesidio's mission is to bring life back to the community of his forebears - a proud and rich heritage. His aim is bring vigour to the traditional way of life by showing visitors the rich and deep history here. What a treat !"

  • "Lurking within this undisturbed territory is, of course, the real Italy. People from all over the peninsula lay claim to living in the real Italy, but they are wrong. The real Italy lies here, in Val Comino, north of Naples, south of Rome, high in the mountains, surrounded by the Apennine peaks."
